BFF Indy is marking another year of building real friendships, supporting local businesses, and creating space for women to feel like they belong.
What began as a small grassroots effort has grown into a community reaching tens of thousands of women across Central Indiana, with regular in-person events and partnerships that strengthen both social connection and the local economy. This year’s birthday celebration offered a snapshot of that impact, and why Indianapolis is paying attention.

OUR STORY
What Started as One Woman Looking for Friends Is Now a Citywide Community
BFF Indy was created to solve a simple but deeply common problem: making real friendships as an adult.

In 2021, after moving to Indianapolis and working remotely without an existing social circle, FrancesMary Loughead found how difficult it could be to make friends as an adult.
What started as casual Bachelor watch parties quickly turned into group outings, real friendships, and a growing realization that many women were craving the same connection.

That insight led to the creation of BFF Indy: a women-led community designed to make friendship more accessible through intentional, in-person events. In just its first year, BFF Indy grew to over 20,000 members, connecting women across Indianapolis and beyond. Two years later, that number has doubled.
A CELEBRATION ROOTED IN
REAL CONNECTION
The BFF Indy 2nd Birthday Celebration brought together women from Indianapolis and surrounding suburbs for a day centered on genuine connection and shared experiences.
Many attendees arrived alone and left with new friendships, exchanged phone numbers, and discovered new local businesses to support. The event reflected what BFF Indy does best: creating spaces where connection feels natural, inclusive, and pressure-free.

BFF INDY'S COMMUNITY IMPACT
45,000+ women reached across digital and in-person spaces
Over 100 Indiana-based partners
7-10 monthly events across the metro area
Countless friendships formed through intentional gatherings
COMMUNITY IS MORE THAN SOCIAL...
IT'S FOUNDATIONAL
In a time when loneliness and disconnection are increasingly common, BFF Indy events offer something tangible: a way for women to engage with their city and each other in meaningful ways.
By bringing women together in real spaces, BFF Indy helps:
-
Reduce social isolation
-
Encourage local engagement and retention
-
Strengthen neighborhood and small-business ecosystems
-
Foster long-term relationships that extend beyond events

The birthday celebration served as a snapshot of what’s possible when community is built with intention.

CONNECTION THAT CIRCULATES LOCALLY
Every BFF Indy event is designed to uplift Indianapolis.
Not just socially, but economically.
The birthday celebration partnered with over 15 local businesses, many of them women-owned, helping introduce new customers through authentic, relationship-driven experiences rather than traditional advertising.
This model allows local businesses to grow alongside the community that supports them!
A LOCAL STORY WITH BROADER RELEVANCE
The BFF Indy Birthday Celebration reflects a larger conversation happening nationwide: how adults build community, combat loneliness, and stay connected to the cities they live in.
For Indianapolis, it’s a story of women supporting women,
local businesses thriving through community, and a grassroots movement showing what’s possible when belonging is prioritized.
